I uploaded some pictures for you to get a better idea of its construction and 'shake pattern'. The pattern shown was the result of one firm shake about 6" (15 cm) above the table.
The cap fits snugly from two dents in the cap that slide over two L-shaped grooves pressed into the side of the can; a partial turn of the cap secures it to the can quite well. The screen is attached to the cap in a manner that makes it relatively easy to clean by rinsing; i.e., particles do not loge themselves into areas where they're difficult to remove. The screen is also tightly fixed to the cap and is thick enough wire that, with reasonable care, should last you a lifetime.
