(More customer reviews)I rather stupidly put all my eggs in one basket with this item, and was counting on it to decorate my son's birthday cake, so when I was failing to remove it from the backing without it ripping, panic started setting in.
I read and followed the directions that were sent with the image, which was, in all honesty, well packaged and promptly shipped. However, it was so well stuck to the backing that no matter how much I worked it over the corner of the counter, it would not remove. I managed to get the picture off with much distortion of the image, but the edges broke in many places so it looked rather ragged.
However, I have to say that when he saw the picture, he was thrilled and not in the least bit concerned about the edges.
My advice would be to have a backup solution - something else to put on the cake if the image rips when you're trying to remove it.
